Environmental Engineers work hard to ensure communities have safe and clean air, water, and soil. They work closely with business leaders and government officials to institute new air pollution standards that reduce emissions from factories without negatively impacting industrial output. They design complex treatment systems that remove contaminants from our air and water. Some environmental civil engineers examine and protect the quality of our soil – for example, working with agricultural businesses to show consumers that pesticides and soil nutrients do not affect the quality of the food we eat. They also ensure residents of new home developments that their homes have not been built on contaminated land.
